Great ideas, I do try to keep it to one or two like backgrounds to keep it simple but yet give the person more than one choice, the rest will be as you took them. The backgrounds should be used as an enhancement tool along with your regular portraits. Thank you Scott and Joe for helping us to improve our business.

  2. Thank you Scott, I got your responce to my questions and listening to the the pod cast drove it home.
    Thanks again.

  3. Scott I been wanting email for a long time so here we go. About this blog, well I do green screen onsite, my customer can have a print in 5 to 15 minutes. You\’ve touch on this before. I use Green Screen Wizard pro #5 the newest one, its 10 times better then a year age. There a thing in the program called pick which you can put backdrops in 1 or 100\’s with your photo. Try it you\’ll love it, then pass it on (info). I think your like me giving info to some one is worth more then gold, I just like helping pople make it in this crazy world. Now your should check out smagmag.com where I put my (snapshots2010.com) photography for my customer to see and buy. It cost me $39. a year, I get a kick back on every thing sold. The nice thing is I do have to go to walworld or on line for prints, it saves time. Just keep helping others and the man will keep helping you too. Billy Bob ( 70 year old man wanting to learn.)

Great information as always. Excitement is the Main Key in any shoot. Keep that level of energy up through out the shoot. We even start on the first phone call of saying key words like, “WOW” when they call about scheduling a setting and use words such as great your thinking about haveing these pictues done, and we try and keep the “WOW” going through out the shoot and showing of the previews clear through the completion of the clients order. When showing our work to new clients we only display 8 X 10 and larger samples to get them to think in large sizes, though we do let them know we can make smaller prints as well if they want to give them as gifts to others. We do put each one of our finished previews through photo shop to make them sparkle before we give them to the client. But a few minutes of enhancement does bring better sales we have found. Also we fully agree on not showing your clients the digital images in the camera, Let alone you may take more then one shot of same scene. And as we all know, not every shot works out. When a client asks if they can see, we just say we would rather you wait and see the finished previews as we take these shots today into our lab and make them sparkle for your eyes when finished. Again “Sparkle” is a key word and keeps them excited to see the finished previews. We often tell our clients that once the pictures are taken we feel we are 1/4th done with the setting, as we take the shots into our lab and put many more hours into bringng them the best pictures that we can. This lets them know you are working for them and what they are paying you for. Thanks again Scott another great session full of information.

I agree with the others on your content – very good and informative. I’m curious, though, about your choice of opening/closing music – it is very reminiscent (to my untuned ear) of NAPP’s theme music.

    Just an observation.

  9. Patti McD. says:

Thank-you. I found this to be very informative.
Now I don’t have to stress.

  10. Hi Terri,

The intro music is actually from Garageband , which is a Royalty Free music software for the Mac. Maybe they used Garageband too!

Please repeat or go over again creating Portraits from your Digital backgrounds. My origional Portrait should be shot with a White or Black background, correct? What I do not understand is the Idea of the layers and creating a final Portrait with your Digital backgrounds.

  12. John says:

Great information and inspiration. Thanks very much.

BTW.. that sound you got on the podcast comes from a smartphone like a blackberry being too close to the recording equipment as it accesses the cell tower. I had the same thing drive me crazy for months with my audio equipment at home.

  13. Jenny says:

hi, I enjoyed this, but it raised some more questions. I hear you saying that you offer them something specific. So, I guess I am doing my website wrong? On my website I advertise many different digital options with one special of the month. Is this overload for the client? On my website I have examples of all of my digital background. I figure if you have more examples, there is more to choose from, am I wrong?

  14. Tina says:

Loved the tips. I’m just starting out and I’m a sponge trying to soak up everything. Looking forward to the next podcast.
