Creating The Best Photography Business Fundraisers June 1st, 2010
I just finished an NPB private coaching call the other night that lasted about 2 hours an answered a lot of great questions.
There was a question that came in from Colleen about setting up her Fundraiser table at an event she’s hosting. She wanted to know if I had any tips or suggestions on her table display.
Of course I did and I wanted to share these with all of our subscribers. I know most people just don’t think about the small things, but these can make a HUGE difference.
Take some notes and use these when setting up your next Fundraiser.
Enjoy!

After you get done listening…leave a comment below and let me know your thoughts.

Hi Scott.
I have listens to the interview and found the information interesting,on another note I have finished a private portrait shoot and used one of your digital backgrounds Elegant Velvet Parlour which suited the photo as the young lad was dressed for his first proms, parents were delighted with the finished results and oders followed,I now have my first baby shoot to complete followed by a wedding and two day portrait shoot at an ice rink, alas I do not have an apporiate backdrop and have had to download a ice background.

Good Evening Scott-
A short time ago I stumbled into the “feet” portrait via another website (quite by accident). I was drawn into it by the sheer passion and knowledge you have of photography and creating THE perfect picture for the client. You have me hooked! Recently I signed up to receive your tips and expertise and let me tell you, YOU DON’T DISAPPOINT! I look forward to receiving what’s to arrive next in my email from you. My only downside to all this is I do not have Photoshop (in any version). I try to mimic by translating the steps over to my Photo Impact Pro 8.5. After much time I now know I will soon be purchasing Photoshop.
Thank you for your enthusiasm, encouragement, very helpful tips, techniques and advice!
Carol

Scott as always good information on getting your work out so other people know who you are and the work you do. Can’t move any product unless it is seen. Good information. Thank You once again.
Colleen Says:
Scott,
Thanks so much for the great advice! I displayed a 16×24 mounted foot picture and 2 – 11×14’s were framed on eisels. We got a great response! I’ve already completed the first session booked from the event and have scheduled two more from it – not including the Winner of the drawing. Our web site has had increased hits since and since the event was local, so are the customers. So word of mouth should be great! Thanks again for the tips…they worked for me!

Enjoy every tidbit of info you provide via email. After 23 years in the photography business (part-time) and currently being unemployed, I have found myself depending on what I can accomplish with the camera in front of my eye to pay the bills more and more. You have inspired me to take the steps needed in order to make this part-time gig a full-time gig. Thanks!

Good advice Scott. How do I set up a Blog? Is that space book or twitter?

Hi Scott, I’ve just subscribed to your video lesson recently. They are awesome. I’m a teacher by my career but photography is my hobby. I have bought a Nikon D90 with 16mm – 85mm lens last year. I’m beginning to explore the use of the camera & wanting to learn more on setting up a blog to place my pictures. Thanx for sharing your knowledge Scott.

Scott, Your ideas are so helpful, I took the “foot” picture and had it enlarged to 20×30 and had a local framer do a professional frame. I paid him to do this work, I then took two fish pictures Had them enlarged to 16×20 and teamed with him to frame them for free in order for him to be showcased as the framer. He of course did the best job and I have wonderful works of art to show at my events. I have always worked on marketing with business partners at my job, this helped me in my Photography business too. thanks again for the great advice, Tina

I love your ideas. Our county fair is coming up soon, and I’ve got a booth to set up.So I’ve enlarged the fish photo to 18×24.Also the feet to a 20×30 for display.I’m excited to see if I get any feedback and maybe some work.Should I have a drawing for something.
Stan shelton Says:
Thanks, Scott. Great advice. I have a couple of functions coming up. I’ll get my enlargements ready.

Hi Scott, Yes, I have found fundraisers to be extremely helpful in getting your name out. On another note, I have found the best way to sell your photography skills is to display your work. Namely at restaurants and shopping malls or Doctor’s offices etc. Its a very low pressure way to get attention, just stop by now and then to drop off some business cards.
Thanks!

Your info is the best out there!!! I came acrossed you also with the feet $225 video also and I look forward to the next. and catch myself thinkin a month is to long for the next tidbit. Not good at the hurry up and wait game. As I started lookin thru you blogs and absorbing info, I ran acrossed a post in here about the customer that has Photo Impact. I have that also! But it seems that every one is talking about PS, so this started a new search for me. I knew I couldn’t afford the full blown program but found PS Elements in Amazon.com for a price I could fit in my budget. I hope this helps for the folks that want to have the ability to do most of the effects that you talk about. Also there are alot of actions/brushes/effects for free out there to help those upand coming photographers like me. Thanks Scott for helpin me achieve my dream and makin it alot easier then I thought it would be
Shelly
